Bridge Bearings

chart

Elastomeric Bearing consists of one or more internal layers of Elastomer bonded to internal steel laminates which are being cast in a single unit mould and are vulcanised under heat under pressure for catering to translation or rotation of the superstructure by elastic deformation.

Elastomeric Bridge bearings are used for providing support to the structures at a constant elevation and allow motion from the superstructure to the substructure. These Elastomeric Bridge Bearings are used for providing vertical load and horizontal movements and rotations. Here vertical load movement is controlled by shear deflection and rotation by angular deformation. Steel reinforced plates are vulcanized in alternating elastomer layers which are then enclosed by a elastomer outer layer, increasing the bearing resistance to ageing caused by external influences, in particular ozone.

Our Elastomeric Bridge Bearings are designed, manufactured & tested as per the following specifications:

IRC: 83 (part II) – 2018 with its latest amendments, meeting the requirements of MoRTH specifications for road and bridge works to section No. 2000 to clause No. 2005 (Elastomeric Bearing)

International Union of Railways Code No. UIC 772-2R (use of rubber bearings for railways bridges).

EUROPEAN STANDARD BS EN 1337 – 3 / 2005 (Structural Bearing – Part 3: Elastomeric Bearing).

AASTHO LRFD 7th Edition Section 14.7.6 Elastomeric Levelling Pad or any other specifications as per customer requirement.

Our products are approved by:

  • Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways.
  • Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO).
  • Metro Rail Projects and many more.

The installation of the bearing varies depending on the type of construction whether the structure above the bearing is the in-situ construction or precast concrete beams. Generally, the bearing is placed at the right level. The upper and lower concrete surface between which the bearing is placed must be horizontal, parallel clean and flat
